Women's cross country places sixth on senior day

FREDERICK, Md. - The Hood College women's cross country team placed sixth on senior day at the Hood College Open. 

How it Happened

  • Saoirse Conley was Hood's top finisher with a time of 25:29.6 in the 6,000-meter course, good for 33rd place. It was the first 6k for the freshman, and now ranks amongst the top 50 times in Hood history.
  • Raphaella Henson-Vendrell ran the course in 26:06.0 and placed 39th.
  • Hood's third runner across the finish line was Lauren Fancella in 49th place with a time of 26:35.9.
  • Haylee Plaudis finished the course in 27:18.8, good enough for 60th place.
  • Lauren Crossey was less than 20 seconds behind in 63rd place in 27:35.0.
  • Krista Przywara and Julee Wells were the Blazers' next finishers in 72nd (28:29.5) and 85th (29:53.5), respectively.


  • Meggan Grams was the individual champion in 21:43.8, running unattached. 
  • Eastern scored 28 points, earning first place in the event. 
  • Also competing for Hood were Itayu Torres (98th, 31:22.7), Shayna Hancock (104th, 32:26.6), and Kaylee Weaver (117th, 35:01.6).
  • Hood honored Fancella and Torres after the meet during senior day ceremonies for their contributions to the program.
