FREDERICK, Md.--Senior Jessica Parrish of the women's track and field team has been selected as the Hood College Athlete of the Week for the week ending March 8.
Parrish won three events and set three school records to lead the Blazers to a second-place finish at the Salisbury University Sea Gull Opener Saturday.
The native of Baltimore, Md., captured top honors in the 100 meters in 12.6 seconds while her leap of 35' 3" in the triple jump was good for first place as well. Parrish, who was dubbed the Capital Athletic Conference "Newcomer of the Year" at last year's conference meet, also anchored the record-setting 4x100 meter relay which set a new school standard in 52.7 seconds. She rounded out the meet by taking fourth in the long jump.
The Blazers are idle this week but return to action Saturday March 15 at the Dragon Invitational hosted by Howard Community College.
