Scarborough tabbed CoSIDA Academic All-District®

Erin Scarborough

FREDERICK, Md. - Hood College's Erin Scarborough was voted CoSIDA Academic All-District® Women's Soccer First Team, voted upon by the College Sports Information Directors of America. 

Scarborough, who was named to the All-Middle Atlantic Conference Commonwealth First Team for her play on the field, set career-highs in every statistical category this year. The forward leads Hood with 12 goals and 29 points and is second with five assists. She ranks second in the MAC Commonwealth in goals, third in points and tied for seventh in assists. She scored half of her goals during conference play, including multi-goal matches against Stevenson and Alvernia, scoring the game-winner in both matches.

The senior forward has a long list of academic accolades to her credit. She has made both the Dean's List six times and the MAC Academic Honor Roll on three occasions. Scarborough is a member of six honor societies: Beta Beta Beta, Gama Sigma Epsilon, Mortar Board, Phi Kappa Phi, Alpha Lambda Delta and Chi Alpha Sigma. The biology major has received the Beta Beta Beta Award, the Biology Faculty Award, the Sydney Silverman Award and the George G. Kleinspehn Honor Scholarship. 

Hood is a part of District 2, which in Division III encompasses programs in Connecticut, the District of Columbia, Delaware, Kentucky, Maryland, New Jersey, Rhode Island, and West Virginia.

Scarborough is the fifth women's soccer player to earn the honor in program history, joining Elien Comhaire (2017), Jamie Bingaman (2010), Laura Hines (2009 and Kristin Kennedy (2004). 

To be eligible for the CoSIDA Academic All-America consideration, a student-athlete must be a varsity start or key reserve, maintain a cumulative grade-point average (GPA) of 3.30 on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at his/her current institution and be nominated by his/her sports information director. First Team Academic All-District honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America Team ballot.
