Women's soccer downs Golden Wolves

FREDERICK, Md. - Two goals from senior Erin Scarborough saw the Blazers take down the Alvernia Golden Wolves 3-1 during their first Middle Atlantic Conference Commonwealth match.

  • Scarborough put the Blazers up early after finding the back of the net from a Bautista dish in the 10th minute.
  • Merritt assisted another Scarborough goal that doubled the lead for the Blazers in the 61st minute.
  • Alvernia responded quickly in the 62nd minute after Breanna Dukehart slotted a ball across the box for Allison Hyde to finish putting the score at 2-1.
  • A 25-yard strike from Ellis capped off the scoring and put the game out of reach for Golden Wolves as the scoreboard read 3-1 in the 87th minute.


  • Scarborough now ranks fifth all-time in both career goals (20) and career points (48).
  • Lily Sankey made eight saves for Alvernia.
  • Hood extends their record to 9-3-1, the first time since 2009 that the Blazers have won nine games.
