Women's soccer bested by Diplomats

LANCASTER, Pa. - A strong Franklin & Marshall offense proved to be too much for the women's soccer team during a 3-0 loss to the Diplomats.

How it Happened

  • Melissa Merritt hit the frame early after 5:14 of play but the left-footed chance was denied by the goalkeeper.
  • Franklin & Marshall took an early 1-0 lead in the sixth minute when Meg O'Callahan headed a ball from Nicolette Runko that found the back of the cage. 
  • The Blazers found themselves down 2-0 after Emilee Adami finished a cross from Runko in the 17th minute.
  • An opportunity for the Blazers came in the 28th minute when Erin Scarborough's effort from just inside the 18-yard box was swallowed up by the charging keeper.
  • Runko capped off the scoring in the 57th minute after a solo effort.


  • Sara Ghorashi made two saves in 68 minutes for the Diplomats. Gabby Panayotakis played the remaining 22 minutes. 
  • Hood is now 7-3-1 on the year, while Franklin & Marshall improves to 5-3-1.
