ANNVILLE, Pa. - Hood College's Clay Smith was named the Middle Atlantic Conference Commonwealth Offensive Player of the Year in voting by the conference's coaches.
It is the third career All-MAC Commonwealth accolade for the senior forward. The 2016 conference rookie of the year is the second Blazer to earn offensive player of the year (Drew Demich, 2015).
This season, Smith leads the conference with 12 goals and 26 points. He had a hat trick in the early season win over Marymount (Va.), the first of his four multi-goal matches. In one of his two-goal performances, he scored an overtime game-winner at Eastern Mennonite. Smith scored twice at MAC Commonwealth foes Albright and Lebanon Valley and had an assist against No. 14 Messiah. His goal 21 seconds into the match against Chatham was the fastest goal in school history.
