Men's soccer draws Wesley in tournament

FREDERICK, Md. - After Wesley College scored early, Hood tied the game and made it stand in the championship game of the Hood Soccer Tournament.

  • Danny Castillo made 15 saves in goal, one shy of the school single-game record and the most since Shawn Fernholz made 15 in 2008. 
  • Clay Smith scored Hood's goal. He moved into third all-time at Hood with 66 points. 
  • Dillon Eyler had an assist.

How it Happened

  • Justin Jon-Langba gave Wesley the lead in the 20th minute with an assist from Darius-David Robinson. 
  • Castillo made 10 saves in the first half to keep the Blazers in the game. 
  • The goal stood until Eyler slipped a ball to Smith on the right side and the senior leveled the score at 1-1. 


  • Wesley's Jason Sommer made six stops. 
  • The Wolverines were declared the champions of the tournament over Hood based on goal differential. Wesley had defeated Wilson 6-0 in its first game, while Hood defeated Penn College 3-1. 
  • John-Langba and Matthew Dina were named to the all-tournament team for Wesley. 
  • Hood was represented on the all-tournament team by Brandon Feuerherd.
  • Both teams are 1-0-1 on the season.
