FREDERICK, Md. - Hood College head men's lacrosse coach Brad Barber has announced that junior defender Weston Bimstefer, senior midfielder Nick Masucci, sophomore defender Eamon Mulligan and senior attack Patrick O'Brien will be the captains for the 2017 season.
"I am excited to announce our captains for the 2016-2017 season," Barber said. "All four men bring different unique leadership qualities that will play well off each other. They have shown a great amount passion, dedication, and support for our program."
Bimstefer, who transferred from the University of Tampa before last season, was in the midst of a breakout season when he was lost to injury. In his first season as a Blazer, he started in 10 games and led team in caused turnovers (19) to go with 22 ground balls.
Masucci has seen significant playing time appearing in 45 total games and has recorded 61 career ground balls along with 14 caused turnovers.
Mulligan, in his first collegiate season, started in 13 games while recording 12 caused turnovers and 14 ground balls.
O'Brien has been a major contributor to the Blazers' offense the past three seasons, consistently ranking among the team's goals and assist leaders. In 42 career games, he has tallied 40 goals, 23 assists and 44 ground balls. His 23 helpers and 63 career points both rank among the all-time leaders at Hood.
The quartet will lead the Blazers into their season opener at home against Goucher on February 18.
