Clay Smith of men’s soccer and Elena Zinaich of women’s volleyball have been named Hood College’s Athletes of the Week, both for a second time in a row, for September 24, 2018.
In the 3-0 victory over the St. Vincent Bearcats, Clay Smith recorded his 10th goal of the year ten minutes into the match to extend his goal-scoring streak to seven games, breaking the Hood record for most consecutive games with a goal. The junior also added two assists to his total.
Elena Zinaich became the Blazers' all-time leader in kills in a five-set victory over Eastern Mennonite. She had 20 kills on the evening to end the night with exactly 1200 kills, surpassing the old record of 1191 by Jenni Ferris (1998-01). Zinaich also had five blocks.
