Mason Wang from men’s basketball and Brianna Hand-Solomon of women’s swimming are Hood College’s Athletes of the Week for the week of February 19, 2018.
Wang set a pair of school records with a career-high 36 points as the men's basketball team dispatched Arcadia 91-85 in the team's season finale. He set the record for points by a freshman and points by a player coming off the bench in the win. It tied for the fifth most points in a game overall in school history. He went 12 of 17 from the field, 6 of 9 from 3-point range and 6 of 7 at the free throw line.
Hand-Solomon set the school record in the 100-yard backstroke to lead the Blazers during session five of the Middle Atlantic Conference Championships at the Graham Aquatics Center. She swam a 59.79 in the 100 back for sixth place in the championship final. Her time eclipsed Shannon McHale's old Hood standard of 59.85.
