Zak Kooser of the men's lacrosse team and Kayli Paugh of the softball team are the Hood College Athletes of the Week for March 20, 2017.
Kooser set Hood's single-game and season assist records against Keystone on March 18. He dealt out six assists in the game, which broke his personal record from earlier in the season. The total gave him 20 assists for the season, which surpasses Dominique Shorter's record of 16 in 2010.
Paugh threw a complete game and matched the school record with 12 strikeouts in the spring break opener against Marywood on March 13, allowing just one run and three walks. She gave Hood the lead in the first with a RBI single. Against Rutgers-Newark on March 14, Paugh hit an RBI double and scored one run. In a rematch with Marywood on the same day, Paugh launched a grand slam that fueled a five-run inning for the Blazers. Against Bethany on March 16, Paugh pitched a four-hit shutout and struck out 12 to tie the school record once more. On the same day against Fredonia, she had two hits and scored one run. Against Oswego State on the last day of the spring break trip, Paugh hit an RBI double. On the same day against Lawrence, she allowed just two hits and had eight strikeouts. She went 2 for 3 at the plate with a home run and a RBI double.
