Baseball's Wayne Baldwin (Mount Airy, Md. / Chapelgate Christian Academy) and Kayli Paugh (Elkridge, Md. / Howard) of the softball team are the Hood College Athletes of the Week for Mar. 29.
Baldwin batted an impressive 10-for-14 (.714) in a 3-2 week for the Blazers. Baldwin hit his first two career home runs during the week. He went 4-for-4 with a home run, three runs scored and a sacrifice against Southern Virginia. The freshman followed that with a three-hit effort against Gallaudet. In game three of the series against conference foe Stevenson, Baldwin went 3-for-3 with home run and two RBIs.
Paugh had a big trip over spring break for the Blazers. The sophomore pitched three times over six games, picking up two complete games wins and a save. She limited No. 22 Tufts to just three runs in seven innings. She also batted .333 with two home runs and four runs batted in. Paugh's homers came against Scranton and Stevens.
