Cameron Rogers (Severn, Md. / Archbishop Spalding) of the men's swim team and women's swimming's Lauren Fogarty (Arnold, Md. / Broadneck) are the Hood College Athletes of the Week for January 11.
Despite the men's team falling to Albright, Rogers continued his impressive run in the distance freestyle events. He extended his win streak in dual, tri or quad meets to 18 straight in the 500 and 17 in a row in the 1,000. He won the 1,000 free with a time of 10:10.04, over 17 seconds faster than the runner up. Rogers finished first in the 500 yard free with a time of 4:53.88.
Fogarty won four total events, including the final two individual events as the Blazers came back to defeat Albright on the day's final event. With Hood trailing, she won the 100 butterfly (1:02.85) and 200 indvidual medley (2:22.75) in back-to-back events, giving the Blazers a chance heading into the final relay of the day. Earlier in the meet, she won the 100 breaststroke (1:15.78) and swam on the winning 200 medley relay (1:59.78) to open the meet. Her wins helped the Blazers to a 125-119 win over the Lions.
