Cameron Rogers (Severn, Md. / Archbishop Spalding) and Shannon McHale (Hauppage, N.Y. / Hauppage) are the Hood College Athletes of the Week for the week ending November 9.
Both swim teams traveled to Messiah for a quad meet that featured Widener and FDU-Florham. The men went 2-1 on the day, while the women were 1-2.
With wins in the two distance freestyle events, Rogers continued his run of excellence in the events. He extended his win streak in dual, tri or quad meets to 16 straight in the 500 and 15 in a row in the 1,000. He picked up Hood's first win of the afternoon with a time of 10:21.20 in the 1,000, over 14 seconds ahead of the runner up. In the 500, he won by over eight seconds with his 5:00.55.
McHale led the way for the women with a second and a third place finish at the meet. The senior was second in the 100-yard backstroke in 1:04.26 and third in the 100 butterfly with a time of 1:03.65.
