Dillon Marier of men's swimming and Jayla Harris of the women's cross country teams are this week's Hood College Athletes of the Week.
Marier four events to lead Hood to its season opening win over Arcadia. Individually, Marier took first place in the 50- and 100-yard freestyle. He turned in a 22.75 in the 50 and followed it up with a 49.66 in the 100. He was a part of the winning 200-yard medley relay, which swam a 1:40.43. His final win of the day came in the 200 free relay, in 1:31.81.
Harris finished seventh and was the top Division III finisher on the 6,000-meter course at Utica Park. Harris turned in a 24:01.1 to set Hood's freshman record, become the fourth fastest woman in school history. Overall, she ran the overall 10th fastest time in school history at 6,000 meters.
