Drew Demich of the men's soccer team and Payton Belella of the volleyball program are the Hood College Athletes of the Week for the week ending September 13.
Demich scored at least once in all three matches. He overcame downpours and a lightning delay to account for all of the day's goals in a 3-0 win over Gallaudet. It was his second career hat trick, making him just the second player in school history with more than one. Earlier in the week, he scored Hood's only goal against Shenandoah. Demich capped the week with a goal and an assist in a 6-0 win at St. Vincent. He also became just the fourth player to reach 20 career goals during the week.
Belella set Hood's freshman assists record twice during the week, and took aim at the school record on both occasions. Belella had 44 assists against Arcadia, tying for second in program history in a single match. The freshman then had 49 assists against Bryn Mawr. She also had 26 digs against Arcadia, the most for the Blazers this season. Belella had just one hitting error all week, tallying a .375 hitting percentage.
