FREDERICK, Md. - Cameron Cook (Baltimore, Md. / Calvert Hall) of men's basketball and Sophie Grizzle (Brunswick, Md. / Brunswick) of the women's track & field team are the Hood College Athletes of the Week for the week ending on March 2, 2014.
In the Blazers' opening round playoff win over Albirght, Cook had 15 points and was 3-of-3 from beyond the arc. He was also perfect from the line shooting 4-of-4, and added six rebounds and had one steal.
In the semifinals against Stevenson, Cook scored 26 points with seven 3-pointers, both season-highs by a Hood player. He added two rebounds and four steals, as well. Cook's final 3-pointer gave him 90 on the year, tying him for the school record set back in 2006-2007. He ended the night with 1,612 points, just 21 shy of the school record.
Competing at the MAC Championships, Grizzle broke a school record and placed second in the pentathlon. She earned All-MAC First Team honors besting her own mark with 2,787 points. The previous record was 2,486 points, set at last year's championship.
Grizzle also earned All-MAC Second Team honors with a fifth place performance in the 4x400 relay.
