FREDERICK, Md. - Cameron Cook (Baltimore, Md. / Calvert Hall) of men's basketball and Meghan Rose (Baltimore, Md. / Eastern Technical) of the women's track & field team are the Hood College Athletes of the Week for the week ending on January 26, 2014.
In the Blazers' 2-0 week Cook was the deciding factor in both games, scoring the winning in the last five seconds. In the tilt against Lebanon Valley he hit the tying and winning free throws with 4.1 seconds left. He finished the game with 23 points and nine rebounds. He hit five 3-pointers and had a game-high four steals.
In the final seconds against Messiah, Cook gathered up a rebound and shot a fadeaway jumper that rattled around and fell in as the buzzer sounded. He recorded 11 points and a team-high five rebounds. The buzzer beater made ESPNU's SportsCenterU Top 10 list, coming in at number six.
Rose competed in the weight throw and shot put at the Lebanon Valley College Invitational. She placed second in the shot with a mark of 38-1 1/4, and sixth in the weight with a toss of 38-4 3/4. Rose qualified for the MAC Championships in both events, as well as the ECAC Championships in the shot.
