FREDERICK, Md. - Cameron Cook (Baltimore, Md. / Calvert Hall) of men's basketball and Lauren Fogarty (Arnold, Md. / Broadneck) of the women's swimming team are the Hood College Athletes of the Week for the week ending on January 5, 2014.
In Hood's first game of the Adidas D3 Holiday Slam, Cook had the game-winning putback in the 78-76 win over Geneva College. The basket gave him two of his 12 points, and he added three steals. He became the third player in Hood history to score 1,300 points as well.
The following day, Cook had 18 points in the Blazers' 71-56 win over Eastern University. The senior shot 7-of-13 and made three 3-pointers. He added two steals.
On Saturday against Elizabethtown, Cook helped Hood cruise to an 85-64 victory, the team's fifth straight. He had 23 points on 7-of-16 shooting, and hit six from beyond the arc. Cook also went 3-of-4 from the line and snagged four rebounds.
Fogarty led the Blazers in the meet against Albright College on Saturday, with two wins and a second place finish. She won the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:37.62, and the 200-yard individual medley in 2:19.31.
