FREDERICK, Md. - Alex Bodine (Frederick, Md. / Urbana) of men's swimming and Chelsea Young (Walkersville, Md. / Walkersville) of the women's track & field team are the Hood College Athletes of the Week for the week ending on December 8, 2013.
In the come-from-behind victory for the Blazers against McDaniel, Bodine anchored the 200-yard freestyle relay that set a new school record and clinched the win for Hood. The new record is 1:30.78, which is 0.31 better than the previous time.
Earlier in the meet, Bodine tied for the win in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 22.33.
In the season opening meet at CCBC-Essex, Young had a hand in five of the team's six wins throughout the day. She earned three individual victories in the 55-meter dash (7.77), 55-meter hurdles (9.42), and in the 200-meters (28.75).
Young was also a part of the 4x160-meter relay and 4x440-yard relay teams. The 4x160 relay won with a time of 1:32.53, and the 4x440 relay crossed the line first in 4:46.99.
