FREDERICK, Md. - Chris Gardner (Smyrna, Del. / Cab Calloway School of the Arts) of men's swimming and Alexandra Dystant (Odenton, Md. / Arundel) of the women's cross country team are the Hood College Athletes of the Week for the week ending November 17, 2013.
In the meet against King's College, Gardner was perfect in three events to lead Hood to the victory.
His first win came in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:12.54. He touched the wall in 2:01.81 to win the 200-yard backstroke.
He earned Hood's last win on the day with a season best 2:07.85 in the 200 individual medley.
Dystant competed in the NCAA Division III Mideast Regional Championships and ran the second fastest time in Hood women's cross country program history.
She ran the 6,000 meter course in 23:40 to finish in 105th place, to lead the Blazers.
Her time was a career-best and trails only Peterson's school record of 23:01 set earlier this year at Salisbury.
Her second fastest time was 23:58, set earlier this year and is eighth all-time at Hood.
