FREDERICK, Md. - Eric Diehl (Gaithersburg, Md. / Damascus) of men's soccer and Alyssa Peterson (Taneytown, Md. / Francis Scott Key) of women's cross country are the Hood College Athletes of the Week for the week ending on October 27, 2013.
On Senior Day, the senior Diehl scored his 21st goal in a Hood uniform. The goal gave the Blazers the 1-0 lead, but they later fell to the Alvernia University Crusaders 2-1.
Peterson competed at the Hood College Invitational and placed second overall, to help Hood reach the 200 medal plateau in the history of the program. Her time of 24:20.0 was 23 seconds faster than the time she ran the previous week on the same course at Utica Park. It was also the third fastest time ever run at Utica Park.
Peterson has finished in the top two women finishers in the last three races she has run.
