FREDERICK, Md. - Eric Diehl (Gaithersburg, Md. / Damascus) of men's soccer and Alexandra Dystant (Odenton, Md. / Arundel) of women's cross country are the Hood College Athletes of the Week for the week ending on October 6, 2013.
Diehl led the Blazers to a undefeated week with wins over Marymount University and Arcadia University. Diehl scored a goal and had an assist in the the 5-2 decision over the Saints. In Hood's Commonwealth Conference opener against the Knights, he scored the game-winning goal in double overtime to secure the 2-1 win.
Dystant competed at the Goldey-Beacon Invitational and earned her first collegiate cross country victory with a time of 20:33.86. Her time was the fastest Hood time at the 5,000 meter course in the seven competetions the Blazers have run at Carousel Park. Dystant's win helped the Hood women's team place second overall.
