FREDERICK, Md.--First-year Michael Beidleman of the men's track and field team and sophomore Chelsea Young of the women's track and field team have been named the Hood College athletes of the week for the week ending March 25.
Beidleman, from Washington, D.C., set a school-record of 11.16 in the preliminary rounds of the Battleground Relays 100 meter dash, then returned to crush his record in the final with a 10.98. He was the first collegian to finish and his mark also places him at the top of the Capital Athletic Conference outdoor performance list.
Young, from Walkersville, went to the starting line seven times at the Battleground Relays, anchoring the winning 4 x 100 relay team, the second-place sprint medley relay team and the fourth-place 4 x 400 relay squad. She also finished sixth in both the 100-meter dash (13.68) and the 100-meter hurdles (18.00).
The Blazers return to action Saturday at the Erik Kloiber Invitational hosted by Mount St. Mary's University.
