FREDERICK, Md.--Junior guard/forward Trey Quinn of the men's basketball team and junior guard Dyanna Prater of the women's basketball team have been chosen as the Hood College athletes of the week for the week ending Nov. 20.
Quinn and Prater were both named to all-tournament teams at their respective tournaments last weekend.
Quinn, from Annapolis, Md., nailed 11-of-13 shots from the field for 28 points in Hood's two contests at the Days Inn Tournament hosted by Gettysburg College. He tallied 14 points in his Blazer debut against the Drew University Rangers, helping Hood advance to the championship game of the tournament. In addition, Quinn finished one assist shy of setting a new tournament record with eight helpers in that game. He followed that up with another 14-point effort in the title contest versus Ohio Northern University as the Blazers finished as the tournament runner-up.
In his first two games in the blue-and-grey, Quinn has tallied 28 points, 13 rebounds, 12 assists and six steals.
The Blazers (1-1) travel to Eastern University Tuesday for a 7 p.m. nonconference matchup.
Prater, from Gaithersburg, Md., paced the Blazers in scoring in both of Hood's season-opening contests at the Durgala Memorial Tournament hosted by Johns Hopkins University. Prater contributed 10 points against the host Blue Jays and 11 more in the consolation final opposite Averett University. Prater also notched six rebounds, two assists, five steals and two blocks.
Prater sat atop the Blazer statistical charts in most categories as a sophomore last season and is serving as a team captain this season.
The Blazers (0-2) hit the road for a nonconference matchup at Waynesburg University Tuesday at 4 p.m.
