FREDERICK, Md.--Junior Emma Arneson of the women's track and field team and junior Chris DiGangi of the men's track and field have been selected as the Hood College athletes of the week for the week ending April 4.
Both student-athletes won their individual events at Saturday's York College (Pa.) Green-White Invitational.
Arneson, from Huntington, W.Va., won the 100 hurdles in 17.63 seconds to lead three Blazers in the top five in the event. The school record holder in the event, Arneson was the lone winner on the day for Hood, which placed fourth in the 10-team invitational.
DiGangi, from Brick, N.J., also won his signature event, the pole vault, clearing 4.1 meters to surpass seven other competitors in the event. DiGangi is the two-time defending Capital Athletic Conference champion in the event and holds the school record in both the pole vault (14' 7") and the high jump (5' 10'). The Hood men placed third of 10 teams at the York meet.
The Blazers have one more invitational left Friday and Saturday at West Chester before the CAC championships, hosted by York College (Pa.), April 16.
