FREDERICK, Md. – First-year Meghan Rose of the women’s track and field team and senior Ola Komolafe of the men’s track and field team have been chosen as the Hood College Athletes of the Week for the week ending Feb. 13.
The duo had a strong weekend at the Susquehanna Indoor Invitational in Selinsgrove, Pa. Rose, a Baltimore, Md. native, started her day with a fourth place finish in the weight throw with a mark of 39’ 8.75”. She ended strong with a second place finish in the shot put with a throw of 36’ 5.00”, only 5.50” behind first place. Rose is in her first season as a member of the Blazer track and field team and already rewrote the school record in the shot put at Dickinson College on Dec. 4.
Komolafe, a Lanham, Md. native, is Hood’s two-time all-CAC performer. He stole his second win this season in the men’s 55-meter dash with a strong finish of 6.65 seconds and ended his day with a fourth place finish in the men’s 200-meter dash with a time of 23.78 seconds, only .05 seconds behind third place. Komolafe is Hood’s school record holder in the men’s 100, 200 and 400. Currently, Komolafe runs 0.14 seconds off of the NCAA provisional national qualifying mark.
Next week, the Blazers will travel to Dickinson College for their meet on Feb. 19.
