FREDERICK, Md.--Two swimmers, junior Arielle Harding and sophomore Andrew Bodine, have been named the Hood College female and male athletes of the week for the week ending Nov. 14.
Both Blazers won a pair of individual events in a dual meet with Capital Athletic Conference rival Marymount University (Va.).
Harding, who earns her second straight weekly nod, won both the 200 individual medley (2:26.79) and the 100 breaststroke (1:12.43) in addition to taking third in the 1000 free (12:08.00). A native of Damascus, Md., and product of Good Counsel High School, Harding was 0.38 seconds away from breaking the school record in the 100 breast. She already lowered the program's 200 breast record earlier this year.
Bodine, who hails from Frederick and graduated from Urbana High School, captured top honors in the 50 free (22.81) and touched the wall 0.56 seconds shy of matching Matt Haynes' school record in the event. Bodine paced the field in the 100 back as well, clocking a time of 1:03.08. Bodine owns Hood's top times of the season in the 50 and 200 free, the 100 and 200 back and the 100 and 200 fly.
The Blazers fell to the Saints in both contests, but look to post more solid times at the annual Randolph-Macon Invitational this weekend.
