FREDERICK, Md.--Senior midfielder Cara Jordan of the women's soccer team and senior golfer Evan Chaney have been selected as the female and male Hood College athletes of the week for the week ending Oct. 25.
Jordan became just the second woman in soccer program history to record 100 career points with a spectacular five-point effort against Lancaster Bible College Saturday. The native of Smithsburg, Md., had a hand in all three Hood goals as the Blazer women snapped a six-game slide with a 3-0 shutout over the Chargers. Jordan ranks second all-time at Hood in goals with 40 and is the program leader in assists with 22, giving her 102 career points. She has also scored a personal season-best 12 goals this fall with one game remaining on the schedule.
Chaney, a Brunswick High School product, tied the single round school record at the Messiah College Invitational last week with a four-over 76. Chaney tied for fifth place out of 56 golfers in the tournament. Chaney and the Blazers also shattered the team scoring record with a 309, which matched the host Falcons' score for first place of 11 teams. But the Blazers came up one stroke short in the tiebreaker, which counted the score of each team's fifth man. Chaney owned an 80.5 stroke average during Hood's four fall competitions.
