FREDERICK, Md.--Sophomore Emma Arneson of the women's track and field team has been selected as the Hood College Athlete of the Week for the week ending Jan. 30.
In the Blazers' first indoor meet of the season and with only five days of practice under her belt, Arneson won the long jump, took second in the 55-meter hurdles and led off on the second place 4x200 relay. In all, Arneson scored 20 points for the Blazers as Hood captured fourth place out of seven schools competing at the Lebanon Valley College Ivnitational.
Arneson was fourth after the 55-meter hurdle preliminaries but
rebounded to finish as the runner-up in the event finals with a
mark of 10.16 seconds. She also bested the field of nine
competitors in the long jump with a leap of 15' 8 1/4", which was 4
1/4" further than runner-up Megan Inama of King's College. Lastly,
Arneson teamed with underclassmen Chloe Ey, Megan Cahill and Mollie
Widdowson to take second place in the 4x200 relay.
Arneson and the Blazers next travel to the Frank Colden Invitational hosted by Ursinus College on Saturday beginning at 9 a.m.
