FREDERICK, Md.--Senior Jen Willison of the women's basketball team has earned the Hood College Athlete of the Week award for the week ending Jan. 24.
The native of Hancock, Md., averaged 13.7 points, 9.0 rebounds and shot .452 from the field in three games last week. Willison's best game of the week came on Saturday when she led all scorers with 18 points in Hood's first Capital Athletic Conference win of the season over Stevenson University. In addition to hitting 6-of-9 from the field and 6-of-9 from the foul line, she also chipped in two steals, four rebounds and an assist opposite the Mustangs.
In Wednesday's game with St. Mary's College (Md.), Willison scored seven points and pulled down a season- and game-high 16 rebounds. She also tied for game-high scoring honors with 16 points against No. 5 Marymount University on Monday.
Willison is currently sixth all-time at Hood in scoring (1,126) and fourth in career rebounds (768). She and the Blazers have a pair of CAC tilts on the schedule this week. Hood (4-12, 1-8 CAC), which sits in ninth place in the league standings, hosts Salisbury University (6-10, 3-6 CAC) Wednesday at 6 p.m. before traveling to York College (Pa.) (7-10, 3-6 CAC) Saturday. The Spartans and Sea Gulls are tied with Stevenson for sixth place in the conference.
