FREDERICK, Md.--Sophomore forward Tory Wilson of the men's basketball team has been named the Hood College Athlete of the Week for the week ending Jan. 10.
The native of Frederick and product of Seneca Valley High School averaged 11.7 points and 8.7 rebounds in a 2-1 week for the Hood men.
Wilson started all three games and shot .538 from the field to go along with five assists and three steals on the week. Wilson started the week with a six-point, six-rebound effort in a win over Frostburg State University. He then registered back-to-back double-doubles against Wesley College (11 points, 10 rebounds) and York College (Pa.) (18 points, 10 rebounds) to round out the week. His 18 markers opposite the Spartans were a career-high in the blue and grey.
Wilson now leads the team with four double-doubles on the year, in addition to ranking third on the team in scoring (11.0 ppg) and first in rebounding (7.9 rpg).
Hood (8-5, 3-1 CAC) is in third place in the Capital Athletic Conference and travels to seventh-place Stevenson University for an 8 p.m. tip Monday. The Blazers are 4-3 all-time against the Mustangs. Since the two became league rivals two years ago, each team has earned a victory on its home court in the four previous matchups.
