FREDERICK, Md.--Junior center Tyler Snoots of the men's basketball team has been selected as this week's Hood College Athlete of the Week for his outstanding effort at the Radisson/Carnegie Mellon Tournament.
The native of Frederick, Md., and Gov. Thomas Johnson High School represented the Blazers on the all-tournament team after tallying 38 points, 16 rebounds and five blocks in Hood's two contests.
In Saturday's contest against Manhattanville College, Snoots finished one rebound shy of a double-double with 17 points and nine boards. He racked up 14 points in the first half, including 4-of-4 from the field.
Then Sunday in the consolation final against the host Tartans, Snoots poured in a game- and career-high 21 points, hitting 10-of-17 from the floor, to eclipse his previous high of 18 set twice prior.
A starter in three of Hood's five contests, Snoots is currently third on the team in scoring, averaging 12.4 points per game, and is second on the squad in rebounding with 31. He also leads the Blazers in blocked shots (10) and is second in field-goal percentage (.650).
Hood (2-3) looks to halt a three-game losing skid Wednesday when it opens Capital Athletic Conference play at Salisbury University (1-2) at 8 p.m.
