FREDERICK, Md.--Senior Brandy Noel of the field hockey team earns this week's Hood College Athlete of the Week award for scoring a school-record four goals in the Blazers' 7-0 victory over Rosemont College Friday.
The midfielder/forward from Severn, Md., did all of her damage in the second half of the contest. She collected her first score off a feed from sophomore Jacquie LeMar just 2:57 into the second period to give Hood a 3-0 lead. Later in the half, she notched back-to-back tallies just 1:43 apart to complete just the second hat trick in Hood field hockey history. Noel then scored her record-setting fourth goal in the 64th minute to eclipse the previous record of three held by Niki Gough from the 1997 season.
Noel and the Blazers routed the Ravens with a season-high seven goals, the most in a single game since Oct. 2, 2001 when Hood posted a school-record 13 goals against Trinity University (D.C.).
Noel currently lists second all-time in career goals (18) and points (41) and is tied for fifth in assists (5).
Hood returns to action Tuesday hosting Stevenson University in a pivotal Capital Athletic Conference game at 4:30 p.m. Both teams are in search of their first league wins of the season.
