WALKERSVILLE, Md.--The Hood College women's cross country team hosted its third annual Hood Open Saturday at Heritage Farm Park.

The field of 110 competitors endured chilly temperatures and a constant downpour as they traversed the 6,000-meter course. The Cardinals posted five runners in the top 16 to take home the team crown by 20 points over Penn State Altoona.

The Blazers finished seventh of 13 complete teams but only trailed fifth-place St. Mary's College (Md.) by two points. Senior Jessica Stanley was Hood's top finisher on the day, taking 28th in a time of 27:37.86.
