Sgro Cops Second CAC Athlete of the Week Accolade

FREDERICK, Md.--Senior Danielle Sgro of the Hood College women's cross country team has been selected as the Capital Athletic Conference athlete of the week for the week ending Oct. 26.

Sgro, who also earned this distinction by the conference Sept. 15, was once again Hood's top finisher at the Hood College Invitational held on campus Saturday. The native of Indiana, Pa., has been the first Hood runner to cross the tape in all seven meets this season and completed the 5K course in 20:34.27, good for third place out of 34 runners. Hood took fourth overall in a very tight team competition in which first and fourth place were separated by only 11 points.

Sgro and the Blazers travel to Fredericksburg, Va., for the 2008 Capital Athletic Conference championships Saturday hosted by the University of Mary Washington.
