Women Place Fourth at Hood Invitational

FREDERICK, Md.--The Hood College women's cross country team placed fourth of five complete teams Saturday at the Hood College Invitational on campus.

Danielle Sgro was Hood's top finisher once again, crossing the tape third of 34 runners in a time of 20:34.27 in the 5K race. Sarah Morris ran No. 2 for Hood in a time of 21:41.36, good for 12th place. Maria Moss (22:14.85) and Jessica Stanley (22:15.71) took 16th and 17th, respectively, while Sam Smith rounded out the scorers for the Blazers with a time of 23:55.87.

The University of D.C.'s Stellah Sang won medalist honors with a course-record time of 18:45.87. Penn State University-Altoona won the team competition by five points over the Firebirds.

Saturday's meet marked Hood's final tuneup before the Capital Athletic Conference championships slated for Saturday, Nov. 1, at the University of Mary Washington.
