Volleyball Splits AWCC Tri-Match

BALTIMORE--The Hood College volleyball team split a pair of Atlantic Women's Colleges Conference matches Saturday afternoon at College of Notre Dame (Md.).

The Blazers (1-2, 1-1 AWCC) began the day with a 3-0 (30-20, 30-13, 30-26) loss to host College of Notre Dame before rebounding with a 3-2 (22-30, 23-30, 30-28, 30-26, 15-6) come-from-behind win over Chatham College.

Junior Ashley Bryan led Hood with eight kills against College of Notre Dame (Md.), while junior Lindsey Nagy six kills, five digs and two service aces.

Sophomore Jamie Gardner had 10 kills and 11 digs to pace the Blazers against Chatham. Bryan and freshman Ashley Burns also had 10 kills each.

Junior Jamie Bussey led a strong defensive effort with 15 digs, while freshman Leah Garland had 14. Junior Caroline Woodhams had 22 assists.

The Blazers are back in action this weekend in the Maryland Division III State Tournament at St. Mary's College of Maryland.

Play begins Friday with Hood facing Salisbury University at 6 p.m. before taking on Washington College at 8. The Blazers also play at 10 a.m. and noon Saturday.
