Mangogna Earns All-MAC in Heptathlon

CENTER VALLEY, Pa. - Hood College's Jackie Mangogna finished fifth in the heptathlon to earn All-Middle Atlantic Conference on day two of the MAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships at DeSales. 

How it Happened

  • Mangogna scored 3,303 points in the multi-event. On day two, her best score came in the final event of the day, the 800-meter run, with a score of 496 after running a time of 2:46.95. Mangogna placed sixth during the javelin segment of the heptathlon with a throw of 72-1 1/4 (21.97 meters). 
  • Jill Heymann was ninth during qualifying in the 100-meter hurdles, missing out on a place in the finals by just 0.02 seconds with her time of 16.73.
  • Samantha Bailey took 11th in the hammer throw with a mark of 112-4 1/4 (34.24m). 
  • Karina Stetsyuk competed in both the 3,000-meter steeplechase and the javelin throw. She ran the steeplechase in 12:39.98 and threw the javelin 88-7 3/4 (27.01m). 

Notes

  • Hood is tied with Delaware Valley for 11th place with four points. 
  • Messiah sits atop the team scoring with 69 points.
