Women's Track and Field Opens Action at MAC Championships

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Hood College women's track and field team competed on the first day of the Middle Atlantic Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships at Lehigh University. 

How it Happened

  • Jill Heymann just missed out on qualifying for the finals of the 60-meter hurdles. The senior ran a 10.08, just a single hundredth of a second out of the finals. 
  • She was the fastest of four Blazer hurdlers. Andrea Christmas (10.76), Emily Stubits (11.49) and Alyssa Siebers (11.63) also took part in the preliminaries. 
  • Christmas was ninth in the pole vault, clearing 8-8 1/4 (2.65m). 
  • Hood's 4x200-meter relay of Jackie Mangogna, Christmas, Heymann and Mangle ran a time of 1:58.21.
  • In the distance medley relay, Jayla Harris, Christmas, Siebers and Stetsyuk tallied a time of 15.33.11. 
  • Danielle Pitts threw the weight 35-2 1/4 (10.72m), while Aleyna Fitz tossed it 28-0 1/2 (8.54m). 

Notes

  • The Blazers are tied for 12th through the end of the first day. 
  • Messiah racked up 44.5 points, but Misericordia, Lebanon Valley and Stevenson are all within eight points of the Falcons.
