Blazer Women Compete at Delaware Open
NEWARK, Del.--The Hood College women's track & field team travelled to Newark, Del., on Saturday to compete at the Delaware Open, hosted by the University of Delaware.
High finish on the day belonged to the Blazers' 4 x 100 relay team which finished fifth. The team of Heather Silveira, Emma Arneson, Megan Cahill and Chelsea Young recorded a time of 51.18, this best on the season.
Nalla Tejera picked up three finishes in the top ten, earning sixth in the discus and seventh place finishes in the shot and the hammer. Other finishers in the top ten included Lauren Roesch (sixth at 3000 meters), Alexandra Dystant (sixth in the 5000), Sophie Grizzle (seventh in the high jump), Joanna LaBoue (ninth in the 3000) and Megan Cahill (ninth at 100 meters).
Personal bests were set by Emma Arneson (200), Grizzle (400 hurdles) and Mollie Widdowson (100 hurdles, the 200 and the javelin).
The Blazers will complete their regular season Saturday at the Gettysburg Invitational, as a final tune-up for the Capital Athletic Conference Championships hosted by Frostburg State University on May 5-6.
