Blazer Track and Field Teams to Host Field Day on May 2

FREDERICK, Md.--Head men's and women's cross country and track and field coach Brent Ayer is proud to announce the program's first "Field Day" on campus. The interactive event will take place Sunday, May 2, at 11 a.m. on Hood's Thomas Athletic Field.

The Blazer men's and women's track and field teams will sponsor a "Fastest Man/Woman on Campus" race on the turf field. The Hood College community is invited to challenge all-Capital Athletic Conference runners Jessica Parrish and Ola Komolafe in a 100-meter dash across the turf.

The Blazers will also hold a relay race competition, where teams of four will each run one loop of the turf.

Lastly, the Hood community is invited to participate in a "Throw-Everything Contest" on the turf. Students are asked to use their imagination in this ultimate test of strength; televisions, toasters or lawn furniture are just a few suggestions for acceptable items. Awards will be presented for distance and originality.

Ayer and Hood College President Dr. Ron Volpe will also recognize Hood's eight senior student-athletes at 12:30 p.m. Hood's 2010 seniors include Blair Ames, William Andrews, Mike Cahill, Brendan Greenlees, Erica Hamor, Jeff Lipinski, David McDuffie and Jess Stanley.
