Ayer Announces Addition of Sprinter Chloe Ey to Women's Track, Cross Country Teams
FREDERICK, Md.--Head cross country and track & field coach Brent Ayer has added John Carroll High School standout Chloe Ey to the 2010 women's track & field roster.
A sprinting and jumping specialist, Ey will also train with the cross country team in the fall. The native of Abingdon, Md., was a three-sport athlete for the Patriots, having also competed in basketball and soccer.
Ey earned numerous accolades as a member of the indoor and outdoor track & field squads, including most valuable sprinter, most valuable player and distinguished senior athlete. Among her personal records in the sprints and jumps include 13.1 in the 100 meters, 27.1 in the 200 meters, 1:02 in the 400 meters, 2:34 in the 800 meters, 15'1" in the long jump and 4'8" in the high jump.
This past spring, Ey took fifth in the 200 meters and second in the heptathlon at the Interscholastic Athletic Association of Maryland (IAAM) Championships. The Patriots also claimed the IAAM indoor track title in 2008.
"Chloe has the ability to contribute across a wide range of events, from long sprints to middle distance," said Ayer. "She intends to run cross country for Hood this fall, which will only add to her strength. She has the ability to help us at 200 meters, 400, maybe 800, as well as both relays. She is a solid student and a very versatile athlete. She is a great addition for our growing program."
