Thrower Nalla Tejera Joins Women's Track & Field Team

FREDERICK, Md.--Head men's and women's cross country and track & field coach Brent Ayer announced the addition of thrower Nalla Tejera to the 2010 women's track & field roster.

A three-sport athlete at Doral Academy in Doral, Fla., Tejera also participated in basketball and softball. A three-time regional qualifier, Tejera helped the Firebirds capture the district and regional championship her senior year. She also finished sixth at the state meet this past spring and was named the 2009 athlete of the year at Doral Academy.

At the 2007 AAU National Junior Olympic Games in Knoxville, Tenn., the native of Hialeah, Fla., placed 18th of 36 competitors in the intermediate girls division in the shot put.

A member of both the National Honor Society and the Math Honor Society, Tejera was also listed among the principal's honor roll.

"Nalla shows great promise for dominating the throws in the Capital Athletic Conference," says Ayer. "I am also excited about teaching her the hammer. She is physically strong, very talented and I am excited to have her here."
