MARIETTA, Ohio--Senior Jessica Parrish of the Hood College women's track and field team placed sixth in her heat of the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.69 at the 2009 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships at Marietta College Friday afternoon.

The top eight runners from the event's three heats advanced to the event finals. Parrish, the Capital Athletic Conference women's track and field athlete of the year and first Blazer student-athlete to qualify for the NCAA championships in an individual sport, ran in the third and final heat of the afternoon but missed making finals by just 0.39 seconds. Hope College senior Nora Kuiper won the individual crown with a time of 11.84, the best time of any Division III competitor this season.
