Women's Track Concludes 2008 Campaign at Shippensburg

SHIPPENSBURG, Pa.--The Hood College women's track and field team wrapped up its 2008 spring season at the Paul Kaiser Classic hosted by Shippensburg University Saturday.
A partial squad journeyed to Shippensburg to compete against 18
schools, several of them prominent Pennsylvania NCAA Division II
programs.
Danielle Sgro carved 11 seconds off her school-record 5,000 meters,
dropping it to 19:25.37. So far this year, she has taken over 40
seconds off her 5,000 meters bests and nearly two minutes off her
10,000 best. Her effort earned her sixth in a tough field.
Sara Stiles also ran a personal best in the 800 meters in the final
meet of her collegiate career. "I owe Sara a debt of gratitude for
sticking with what was a very thin program three years back. Sara
began as a 32-minute 5K runner, lopped 10 minutes off her time and
proved that consistant effort could make you competitive," said
head coach Brent Ayer.
