Jessica Parrish Named CAC Track and Field Rookie of the Year

FREDERICK, Md.--Junior Jessica Parrish of the Hood College women's track and field team has been chosen by the league's head coaches as the Capital Athletic Conference Women's Track and Field Rookie of the Year, as announced by league officials Friday.
Parrish won two individual sprint titles at the 2008 CAC Championships, capturing the 100 meters in 13.04 seconds and the 200 meters in 26.26 seconds. Parrish, a native of Baltimore, MD., who transferred to Hood from Catonsville Community College, is the current record holder in both events in addition to holding the program's top mark in the triple jump (32' 6"). She also ran the anchor leg on the school record-setting 4x100 relay squad at the Battleground Relays last month.
Parrish is the first Hood student-athlete to garner CAC Rookie of the Year accolades in any sport since the Blazers joined the league in 2006-07.
