Nine School Records Fall at Battleground Relays

FREDERICKSBURG, Va.--The Hood College women's track and field team broke nine school records Friday and Saturday at the Battleground Relays hosted by the University of Mary Washington.
Competing in her first meet for the blue and gray, Jessica Parrish took second in both the 100 meter dash (12.87) and the long jump (15' 5 1/2"), setting school records in both events. Lauren Smith placed third in the steeple in a record-setting clocking of 12:45.0. Katie Thomas tied her school record in the high jump (4' 6") and set a new record in the 100 meter hurdles (18.06). Danielle Sgro lowered her record in the 10,000 meters (42:20.90) and Kayla Murphy's hammer toss of 87' 0" once again eclipsed her previous best. The 4x400 relay squad bested the previous record by over two seconds (5:11.80).
Hood next travels to Washington & Jefferson Saturday for an invitational at 11 a.m.
