YORK, Pa.--Junior Danielle Sgro took top honors in the 5000 meter run in 20:34.6 to highlight the Hood College women's track and field team's effort at the York College Spring Opener Wednesday.

Katie Thomas finished second in the 100 meter hurdles (18.44) while Erica Hamor and Natashia Matos scored for the Blazers in the javelin. Hood's 4x400 relay squad came in third in 5:17.6. Kayla Murphy also extended her school record in the shot put with a throw of 25' 9 1/2".

The Blazers travel to Fredericksburg, Va., for the Battleground Relays hosted by the University of Mary Washington Friday and Saturday.
