FREDERICK, Md.--Junior Emily Maerz of the Hood College women's tennis team has been chosen as the Capital Athletic Conference women's tennis co-player of the week, for the week ending April 15.
Maerz shared the honor with the University of Mary Washington's Lindsay Raulston. Maerz is the second Blazer to earn a weekly accolade from the CAC, joining classmate Nalla Tejera, who garnered a certificate on March 21.
Maerz had a fantastic week as she went 8-0 in her busy week of action. Maerz, from Myersville, went 4-0 this past week in singles matches and 4-0 in doubles to give her a blemish-free week. She helped lead the Blazers to a 3-1 record this past week as Hood defeated Wesley, Trinity, and York to improve to 7-10 overall and 2-4 in the CAC. Maerz was also recognized by the CAC as its co-women's tennis athlete of the week.
The women's tennis team returns to action this Wednesday when they take on Frostburg State in a home matchup set to begin at 4 p.m. A win would clinch the No. 4 seed in the CAC playoffs for the Blazers.
